Themes and PrinciplesEducation: "Education for informed democracy and human survival" is our long-term mission objective, rather than lobbying on transient political issues or involvement in campaigns. Peace: without hostility toward our partners in the military and overseas. Wisdom: without hostility toward our partners in politics, and in the community of "intelligence professionals." Environmentalism: without hostility toward our partners in business and government. Children: We wish to promote good nurturance of children worldwide, without scolding parents trapped by the many dysfunctional systems and habits of modern life. Generational equity is not an abstract concept to us. Children are getting hammered by current events and trends, so we want to change that. Sustainability: in the world, in America, in Minnesota, and in our lives is another goal. Our stakeholders are primarily students, but close behind are people of the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota, care givers, peace professors, teachers, soldiers, intelligence types, and world citizens everywhere. Ecumenical in every way: We are and will remain politically non-partisan and religiously alive, but unaffiliated with any particular church, party or faith. CSIW must be strictly ecumenical in every way to serve our mission objective. We associate with many colleges, churches, and other faith-based or educational institutions, but we are owned by none. Frugal: The Staff will make relatively little money and the Director will make none (from CSIW). Funds conserved by this principle will be devoted to stipends for student interns and costs for public education programming.
